Crews have begun restoring power and lights to those who lost electricity during Saturday's devastating storms that produced a deadly tornado and left multiple counties with debris-filled roads. CenterPoint Energy said on Sunday morning that less than 2,300 people in the Greater Houston area are without power. Brazoria County, Cypress, and Galveston were most affected. At last check, nearly 33,00 have had their power turned back on, according to the live outage tracker. The company says that several power poles and equipment will need to be replaced, and the conductors will have to be re-hung because of the damage sustained through a powerful tornado. The company says those outside the High Island area will have their power back on by the end of the day. If that rumor's accurate , it could very well shake up the foundation of the TV market. The rumor, which comes via Mark Gurman of Bloomberg fame, does note that an Apple smart TV is still very much in the conceptual stages, meaning it's an idea being floated around within the company's headquarters. The accuracy of the claims are unknowable, but it's certainly not the first time Apple's looked into making its own smart TVs. Both in the 2000s and in the early 2010s, an Apple-branded TV concept was heavily championed by none other than Steve Jobs himself. It would obviously fall by the wayside as the company's Apple TV 4K streaming device took the world by storm — and still remains one of the best streaming devices in the market. An Apple TV does kind of make sense for the brand if you really think about it. Apple's largely in the business of selling you screens upon screens in the form of iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, and iMacs. But I'm here to push back against any early hype, because all I see in the Apple smart TV concept is a disaster waiting in the wings. A lackluster interface ruled by Apple Intelligence Smart TVs these days have one major thing in common: AI chips with plenty of their own pros and cons across everything from upscaling to audio enhancements. I've already written several guides on which TV settings to change where necessary; plenty of them deal with these AI features. That's because most of these settings tend to mess with the picture quality and performance, often ruining the viewing experience. There's no doubt Apple would take an opportunity like designing of a new smart TV to promote Apple Intelligence with its own set of AI enhancements, which will probably amount to little more than is necessary. And while AI would be a hard pill to swallow for me in regard to an Apple smart TV, I think most dire of all for the proposed product would be tvOS serving as its main interface. While tvOS does have the benefit of being largely ad-free —minus of course Apple-branded adverts — it's not exactly the most streamlined of interfaces out there. Even in the Google TV vs Roku bout featuring two of the very best TV interfaces right now, there's still a lot to consider in terms of compatible apps and free content — which, if you were wondering, Google TV dominates with. As for Apple's tvOS, when it comes to free channels and content, you're left to your own devices, i.e. free apps like Tubi or Pluto TV . Then there's the question of gaming. Would Apple be able to meet the needs of gamers in a robust design that's not too expensive? Because for all my distaste in the interface, it could be a ripe as leading Apple's smart TV into becoming one of the best gaming TVs now that Apple is beginning to take the pastime more seriously. Over-inflated pricing in a budget OLED era The biggest issue I have with a potential Apple smart TV is the inevitably high asking price the company would slap on its new offering. Apple launched its Vision Pro headset earlier this year to an astronomical $3,499, locking out many would-be buyers and even those ever-so-slightly interested in the technology. There's no doubt it will favor a similarly high premium for a TV, whether OLED or not. But if Apple were to launch an OLED TV, it would prove even more devastating. The best OLED TVs come as some of the most sought-after displays in the market with, as you might guess, some of the highest prices primarily because they offer the best picture performance. Over the past few years, however, OLED TVs are starting to get cheaper ever so slightly. You can see it in the launch of cheaper models from lesser-known brands, like the $700 Sansui OLED TV that's got everyone abuzz. LG and Samsung also have two value-oriented OLED series in the LG B4 OLED and Samsung S85D. Inviting an Apple OLED TV into the market could drive the price up on these other OLED TVs given Apple's sheer dominance in the tech industry. It may even make other brands that have yet to enter the OLED space, like Amazon and Roku , think twice about trying. Both of those companies launched their first Mini-LED TVs this year. There's already more than enough competition in the OLED TV space as it is, with Panasonic returning after a lengthy hiatus to throw fuel into the fire with not one but two OLEDs. How an Apple-led design would be met to the masses is hard to say, but interest would be there, especially if it used the M4 MacBook Pro's nano-texture display . But who's to say? Maybe Apple sticks with its Apple TV 4K set-top box for a long while and skips the TV boat entirely. We believe that realizing the significant potential of our bilateral cooperation lies in the context of a multipolar world order, to which Russia and the Philippines, as an influential member of ASEAN, are making their tangible contributions. The convergence or proximity of the two countries’ approaches to the key challenges of our times, their adherence to international law, first and foremost to the principle of the sovereign equality of states, and their recognition of cultural and civilizational diversity and traditional values form the basis for bilateral cooperation. Throughout their history, Russian-Philippine relations have been an example of mutually beneficial cooperation and mutual respect. As early as 1817, the first Russian consulate was opened in Manila on the initiative of Peter Dobel, subject of the Russian Empire, with the aim of expanding trade. Throughout the 21st century, the Filipinos welcomed Russian travellers and sailors, including Vasily Golovnin, Fiodor Litke, Nikolay Miklukho-Maklaiand Ivan Goncharov, who were keen to study the traditions, culture and customs of the locals and then introduced “Perlas ng Silangan” to the Russian public. At the height of the Russo-Japanese War, Manila became a refuge for the Russian cruiser “Aurora” and its crew, who had been badly injured in the Battle of Tsushima. The stay of almost 6,000 Russian refugees from China on the archipelago in 1949-1951 is a little-known chapter in the history of the two countries. Tubabao Island became their home for several years. Local people have kept memories of the stay of “White Russians,” as they used to call them, including Archbishop John of Shanghai (declared a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church). In the second half of the twentieth century, cooperation between our countries took a new turn. In 1975, the USSR was visited by A. Melchor Jr., Executive Secretary of the President of the Philippines. This was the starting point for the establishment of diplomatic relations on June 2, 1976. It is noteworthy that this landmark political decision was taken by the father of the current President of the country, Ferdinand Marcos. Even back then, the Philippine leadership acknowledged that differences in socio-political systems were not an obstacle to successful and effective cooperation. The two countries signed their first trade agreement, which gave a new impetus to economic ties, cultural cooperation, tourism and scientific exchanges. Such an independent approach to bilateral relations, where mutual interests come to the fore, is still very much in demand today. Regrettably, nowadays some countries are striving hard to maintain global geopolitical dominance through the so-called “rules-based order” and artificially “cancel” those parts of the world that do not support such a unipolar vision. Attempts are being made to isolate Russia, punish it for its sovereign political decisions aimed at ensuring its own security, and blame it for all the problems of the world. We therefore appreciate the constructive attitude of the present administration, headed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which demonstrates the continuity of the policy of maintaining friendly relations with our country. Russian and Philippine lawmakers fruitfully cooperate at international parliamentary forums. In November 2023, the leaders of the two countries’ parliaments met on the sidelines of the 31st session of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Manila. Parliamentary friendship groups operate within the legislative bodies of both countries. Trade and economic cooperation is of great importance, although it faces serious challenges, mainly related to the illegal economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and its allies, which is hampering bank settlements and disrupting supply chains. However, as practice shows, obstacles in trade and economic relations are surmountable. On October 4-5, 2023, the 3rd meeting of the Russia-Philippines Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was successfully held in Manila. We consider transport, space, information and communication technologies, etc. to be promising areas. As of 2023, bilateral trade turnover reached US$633.4 million. It is worth recalling that earlier our countries had joined efforts in the fight against Covid-19, during the difficult period of the pandemic. In 2021, 20 million doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V were delivered to the Philippines under a signed contract. Russian companies are interested in establishing cooperation with Philippine partners in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, including its non-energy applications. Agricultural cooperation is intensifying. Since 2021, the office of the agricultural attaché has been functioning within the Russian Embassy in the Philippines. In June 2023, a Russian delegation headed by Sergey Levin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, visited Manila as part of a business mission of Russian companies exporting agricultural products. The establishment of direct flights between Russia and the Philippines would have a positive impact on the development of mutual business and tourist exchanges. This is evidenced by the existing direct flights to Southeast Asian nations, i.e. Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. The conditions are in place for the Philippines to engage with the Eurasian Economic Union, a single market of 180 million consumers. Recent years have seen an active development of interregional contacts. The city of Cebu maintains twinning relations with Vladimir, in 2022 an agreement on cooperation with Vladivostok was signed. In 2024 the province of Cebu concluded an agreement on cooperation in trade and economy, science and technology, and the humanitarian area with St. Petersburg. Moscow has cooperation programs in place with Manila and Cebu. The rich cultural heritage of the two countries provides a basis for expanding humanitarian exchanges, including increasing cooperation in the fields of education and tourism. Russian universities that hold leading positions in the world rankings offer Filipino students training, including free of charge, in such areas as Information Systems and Technologies, Applied Computer Science, Nuclear Energy, Medicine, Linguistics, etc. Russian audiences have repeatedly had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Philippine ballet thanks to Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, founder and CEO of Ballet Manila, who is a graduate of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. In turn, in 2023, as part of the Days of Moscow in Manila, the Filipino audience warmly welcomed a gala concert by artists of the Moscow State Academic Dance Theatre Gzhel at the Aliw Theatre. Friendly visits by Russian ships of the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet to Philippine harbors contribute to maintaining defense contacts. From 2021 to 2024, six such visits have been organized. Philippine officials annually participate in international meetings of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters held by the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The importance of the Asia-Pacific region cannot be overestimated. We note with regret that the security and cooperation architecture, created around ASEAN over recent decades, is under threat. Under the slogan of a “free and open Indo-Pacific region,” the United States and their allies are pursuing a confrontational course aimed at “bloc containment.” The Euro-Atlanticists deliberately heat up the situation around Taiwan and the Korean Peninsula, aggravate territorial disputes in the South China Sea, and use heightened tensions in the region to pump it up with arms, including strategic weapons. Russia opposes the militarization of the region and the “creeping expansion” of NATO into Southeast Asia. Such narrow-bloc organizations as the Indo-Pacific Four (Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand), the AUKUS military alliance with a nuclear component (the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia) are fully involved in this scenario. We note attempts to pull other ASEAN countries into similar narrow-bloc entities, with the aim of forming new “trios” and “quartets.” We are convinced that the future of the Asia-Pacific region can be based only on a constructive agenda, the main items of which include maintaining peace and stability, developing mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation, and creating a regional architecture on a collective basis that would ensure equal and indivisible security for all. In cooperating with its regional partners, Russia is guided by long-term national interests and contemporary realities. To this end, we are actively using the potential of the Russia-ASEAN strategic partnership and the opportunities of our participation in the EAS and ARF, the SCO, BRICS, APEC and other multilateral organizations and forums. Moscow highly appreciates that the current Philippine leadership, in a difficult geopolitical situation, adheres to a balanced, pragmatic line in international affairs and strives to develop pragmatic relations with Russia. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that Russian-Philippine cooperation has great potential for further successful development and translation into mutually beneficial projects. Together we can make a significant contribution to overcoming global challenges and ensuring stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region. I recently discussed the challenges of the holiday season for those suffering from addiction. New Year’s Eve festivities are sometimes the most difficult, with parties and social events, as well as additional stress and worries for the year ahead. Levels can range from 0% to more than 0.4% (potentially fatal). One drink is generally defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine or 1.5 ounces of liquor. Percentages of alcohol content may vary. BAC levels can also vary depending on a person’s age and weight, how rapidly he/she is drinking alcohol and the amount of food the person consumed before drinking alcohol. The important lesson is to know your limits and don’t take chances. Driving while impaired by any substance puts you and others at risk. This holiday season (and in the year ahead) please play it safe and plan accordingly. Be responsible and keep it simple. If you are drinking, don’t drive. If you are going out, plan a safe ride home. Ask a non-drinking friend to be a designated driver. If you see someone has had too much to drink, don’t let them drive. Difficult as it may be, take his/her keys and help arrange another ride home. If you are hosting a party, make sure all guests leave with a sober driver. Lastly, always wear a seat belt. The holiday season should be filled with joy, while making good memories, not tragic ones. He was responding to questions raised by reporters after inaugurating the Vizhuthugal facility for the differently-abled at Kannagi Nagar in Chennai. "He (Ramadoss) is jobless. So, he is issuing statements daily. We don't have to respond," Stalin said when reporters sought his reaction to the PMK leader demanding an explanation on State power utility Tangedco’s alleged ties with the Adani Group bribery allegation after the business tycoon's indictment in the US. Stalin started by saying that the minister of the concerned department (Senthilbalaji, Electricity) had issued the necessary clarification and added the controversial remark when reporters probed him further. Meanwhile, responding to reporters’ questions on the upcoming Winter session of the Parliament, Stalin said, "We conducted a meeting of MPs and adopted a resolution on the issues to be raised in the Parliament. They will speak accordingly." The CM assured of the government's preparedness for a downpour in the State in the backdrop of the weather department forecasting heavy rains in some districts in the next few days. Ramadoss only asked about the meeting between Stalin and Gautam Adani. The image of Tamil Nadu is tarnished in the US. As a concerned citizen and a founder of a political party, Ramadoss sought an explanation from the government," Anbumani said in a statement. Anbumani demanded the chief minister to apologise in public for his statement on Ramadoss. "Moreover, he should also explain the links between the Adani scandal and TNEB. An investigation should be ordered under a Madras High Court judge to probe the allegations," he added. After decades of contributions, Ramadoss doesn’t deserve such ill-treatment, Anbumani said. NEW HOPE, Pa. — Dayle Haddon, an actor, activist and trailblazing former “Sports Illustrated” model who pushed back against age discrimination by reentering the industry as a widow, has died in a Pennsylvania home from what authorities believe was carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities in Bucks County found Haddon, 76, dead in a second-floor bedroom Friday morning after emergency dispatchers were notified about a person unconscious at the Solebury Township home. A 76-year-old man police later identified as Walter J. Blucas of Erie was hospitalized in critical condition. Responders detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property and township police said Saturday that investigators determined that “a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak.” Two medics were taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer was treated at the scene. As a model, Haddon appeared on the covers of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle and Esquire in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also appeared in about two dozen films from the 1970s to 1990s, according to IMDb.com, including 1994’s “Bullets Over Broadway,” starring John Cusack. The rumor, which comes via Mark Gurman of Bloomberg fame, does note that an Apple smart TV is still very much in the conceptual stages, meaning it's an idea being floated around within the company's headquarters. The accuracy of the claims are unknowable, but it's certainly not the first time Apple's looked into making its own smart TVs. Both in the 2000s and in the early 2010s, an Apple-branded TV concept was heavily championed by none other than Steve Jobs himself. It would obviously fall by the wayside as the company's Apple TV 4K streaming device took the world by storm — and still remains one of the best streaming devices in the market. An Apple TV does kind of make sense for the brand if you really think about it. Apple's largely in the business of selling you screens upon screens in the form of iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, and iMacs. But I'm here to push back against any early hype, because all I see in the Apple smart TV concept is a disaster waiting in the wings. A lackluster interface ruled by Apple Intelligence Smart TVs these days have one major thing in common: AI chips with plenty of their own pros and cons across everything from upscaling to audio enhancements. I've already written several guides on which TV settings to change where necessary; plenty of them deal with these AI features. That's because most of these settings tend to mess with the picture quality and performance, often ruining the viewing experience. There's no doubt Apple would take an opportunity like designing of a new smart TV to promote Apple Intelligence with its own set of AI enhancements, which will probably amount to little more than is necessary. And while AI would be a hard pill to swallow for me in regard to an Apple smart TV, I think most dire of all for the proposed product would be tvOS serving as its main interface. While tvOS does have the benefit of being largely ad-free —minus of course Apple-branded adverts — it's not exactly the most streamlined of interfaces out there. Even in the Google TV vs Roku bout featuring two of the very best TV interfaces right now, there's still a lot to consider in terms of compatible apps and free content — which, if you were wondering, Google TV dominates with. As for Apple's tvOS, when it comes to free channels and content, you're left to your own devices, i.e. free apps like Tubi or Pluto TV . Then there's the question of gaming. Would Apple be able to meet the needs of gamers in a robust design that's not too expensive? Because for all my distaste in the interface, it could be a ripe as leading Apple's smart TV into becoming one of the best gaming TVs now that Apple is beginning to take the pastime more seriously. Over-inflated pricing in a budget OLED era The biggest issue I have with a potential Apple smart TV is the inevitably high asking price the company would slap on its new offering. Apple launched its Vision Pro headset earlier this year to an astronomical $3,499, locking out many would-be buyers and even those ever-so-slightly interested in the technology. There's no doubt it will favor a similarly high premium for a TV, whether OLED or not. But if Apple were to launch an OLED TV, it would prove even more devastating. The best OLED TVs come as some of the most sought-after displays in the market with, as you might guess, some of the highest prices primarily because they offer the best picture performance. Over the past few years, however, OLED TVs are starting to get cheaper ever so slightly. You can see it in the launch of cheaper models from lesser-known brands, like the $700 Sansui OLED TV that's got everyone abuzz. LG and Samsung also have two value-oriented OLED series in the LG B4 OLED and Samsung S85D. Inviting an Apple OLED TV into the market could drive the price up on these other OLED TVs given Apple's sheer dominance in the tech industry. It may even make other brands that have yet to enter the OLED space, like Amazon and Roku , think twice about trying. Both of those companies launched their first Mini-LED TVs this year. There's already more than enough competition in the OLED TV space as it is, with Panasonic returning after a lengthy hiatus to throw fuel into the fire with not one but two OLEDs. How an Apple-led design would be met to the masses is hard to say, but interest would be there, especially if it used the M4 MacBook Pro's nano-texture display . But who's to say? Maybe Apple sticks with its Apple TV 4K set-top box for a long while and skips the TV boat entirely. The two countries signed their first trade agreement, which gave a new impetus to economic ties, cultural cooperation, tourism and scientific exchanges. Such an independent approach to bilateral relations, where mutual interests come to the fore, is still very much in demand today. Regrettably, nowadays some countries are striving hard to maintain global geopolitical dominance through the so-called “rules-based order” and artificially “cancel” those parts of the world that do not support such a unipolar vision. Attempts are being made to isolate Russia, punish it for its sovereign political decisions aimed at ensuring its own security, and blame it for all the problems of the world. We therefore appreciate the constructive attitude of the present administration, headed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which demonstrates the continuity of the policy of maintaining friendly relations with our country. Russian and Philippine lawmakers fruitfully cooperate at international parliamentary forums. In November 2023, the leaders of the two countries’ parliaments met on the sidelines of the 31st session of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Manila. Parliamentary friendship groups operate within the legislative bodies of both countries. Trade and economic cooperation is of great importance, although it faces serious challenges, mainly related to the illegal economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and its allies, which is hampering bank settlements and disrupting supply chains. However, as practice shows, obstacles in trade and economic relations are surmountable. On October 4-5, 2023, the 3rd meeting of the Russia-Philippines Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was successfully held in Manila. We consider transport, space, information and communication technologies, etc. to be promising areas. As of 2023, bilateral trade turnover reached US$633.4 million. It is worth recalling that earlier our countries had joined efforts in the fight against Covid-19, during the difficult period of the pandemic. In 2021, 20 million doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V were delivered to the Philippines under a signed contract. Russian companies are interested in establishing cooperation with Philippine partners in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, including its non-energy applications. Agricultural cooperation is intensifying. Since 2021, the office of the agricultural attaché has been functioning within the Russian Embassy in the Philippines. In June 2023, a Russian delegation headed by Sergey Levin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, visited Manila as part of a business mission of Russian companies exporting agricultural products. The establishment of direct flights between Russia and the Philippines would have a positive impact on the development of mutual business and tourist exchanges. This is evidenced by the existing direct flights to Southeast Asian nations, i.e. Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. The conditions are in place for the Philippines to engage with the Eurasian Economic Union, a single market of 180 million consumers. Recent years have seen an active development of interregional contacts. The city of Cebu maintains twinning relations with Vladimir, in 2022 an agreement on cooperation with Vladivostok was signed. In 2024 the province of Cebu concluded an agreement on cooperation in trade and economy, science and technology, and the humanitarian area with St. Petersburg. Moscow has cooperation programs in place with Manila and Cebu. The rich cultural heritage of the two countries provides a basis for expanding humanitarian exchanges, including increasing cooperation in the fields of education and tourism. Russian universities that hold leading positions in the world rankings offer Filipino students training, including free of charge, in such areas as Information Systems and Technologies, Applied Computer Science, Nuclear Energy, Medicine, Linguistics, etc. Russian audiences have repeatedly had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Philippine ballet thanks to Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, founder and CEO of Ballet Manila, who is a graduate of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. In turn, in 2023, as part of the Days of Moscow in Manila, the Filipino audience warmly welcomed a gala concert by artists of the Moscow State Academic Dance Theatre Gzhel at the Aliw Theatre. Friendly visits by Russian ships of the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet to Philippine harbors contribute to maintaining defense contacts. From 2021 to 2024, six such visits have been organized. Philippine officials annually participate in international meetings of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters held by the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The importance of the Asia-Pacific region cannot be overestimated. We note with regret that the security and cooperation architecture, created around ASEAN over recent decades, is under threat. Under the slogan of a “free and open Indo-Pacific region,” the United States and their allies are pursuing a confrontational course aimed at “bloc containment.” The Euro-Atlanticists deliberately heat up the situation around Taiwan and the Korean Peninsula, aggravate territorial disputes in the South China Sea, and use heightened tensions in the region to pump it up with arms, including strategic weapons. Russia opposes the militarization of the region and the “creeping expansion” of NATO into Southeast Asia. Such narrow-bloc organizations as the Indo-Pacific Four (Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand), the AUKUS military alliance with a nuclear component (the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia) are fully involved in this scenario. We note attempts to pull other ASEAN countries into similar narrow-bloc entities, with the aim of forming new “trios” and “quartets.” We are convinced that the future of the Asia-Pacific region can be based only on a constructive agenda, the main items of which include maintaining peace and stability, developing mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation, and creating a regional architecture on a collective basis that would ensure equal and indivisible security for all. In cooperating with its regional partners, Russia is guided by long-term national interests and contemporary realities. To this end, we are actively using the potential of the Russia-ASEAN strategic partnership and the opportunities of our participation in the EAS and ARF, the SCO, BRICS, APEC and other multilateral organizations and forums. Moscow highly appreciates that the current Philippine leadership, in a difficult geopolitical situation, adheres to a balanced, pragmatic line in international affairs and strives to develop pragmatic relations with Russia. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that Russian-Philippine cooperation has great potential for further successful development and translation into mutually beneficial projects. So, he is issuing statements daily. We don't have to respond," Stalin said when reporters sought his reaction to the PMK leader demanding an explanation on State power utility Tangedco’s alleged ties with the Adani Group bribery allegation after the business tycoon's indictment in the US. Stalin started by saying that the minister of the concerned department (Senthilbalaji, Electricity) had issued the necessary clarification and added the controversial remark when reporters probed him further. Meanwhile, responding to reporters’ questions on the upcoming Winter session of the Parliament, Stalin said, "We conducted a meeting of MPs and adopted a resolution on the issues to be raised in the Parliament. They will speak accordingly." The CM assured of the government's preparedness for a downpour in the State in the backdrop of the weather department forecasting heavy rains in some districts in the next few days. NEW HOPE, Pa. — Dayle Haddon, an actor, activist and trailblazing former “Sports Illustrated” model who pushed back against age discrimination by reentering the industry as a widow, has died in a Pennsylvania home from what authorities believe was carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities in Bucks County found Haddon, 76, dead in a second-floor bedroom Friday morning after emergency dispatchers were notified about a person unconscious at the Solebury Township home. A 76-year-old man police later identified as Walter J. Blucas of Erie was hospitalized in critical condition. Responders detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property and township police said Saturday that investigators determined that “a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak.” Two medics were taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer was treated at the scene.
