Attorneys for election workers that defamed wrote a scathing letter accusing the former mayor of launching a crusade meant to “to obstruct and intimidate” them as they try to recover his assets. In a Friday to a federal judge, Michael Gottlieb, a lawyer representing election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, accused of orchestrating a “public relations campaign” meant to stop the women from Last December, Giuliani was ordered to pay Freeman and Moss nearly $150 million after a court found he defamed them by falsely claiming they manipulated election results in 2020. But a barrage of recent court filings, including Giuliani’s attempts to appeal, reveal a weeks-long legal battle that the women argue is the former mayor’s attempts to delay, block or obstruct them from collecting what he has been ordered to turn over. Both Giuliani’s new lawyer and those in his inner circle have argued that the former mayor was wronged and have set out on a mission “designed to interfere” with the women’s “efforts to perform their duties by attacking the underlying judgment,” the letter said. Joey Cammarata, who is representing Giuliani after his previous legal team , held a press conference on Wednesday outside of the offices of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, the firm representing the election workers, where he “launched a variety of attacks” against this case, Gottlieb wrote. There, Cammarata called the court-ordered turnover of Giuliani’s belongings a “seek and destroy mission of America’s mayor.” “We will not relent,” he said. “They are doing everything they can to stop Mr. Giuliani from having a formidable defense. We are not going to allow it. ... This firm is doing everything in its power to break an 80-year-old patriot to its country, an American who did so many great things for us.” This rhetoric was also echoed on social media, where the hashtag “IStandWithRudy” started trending, according to lawyers for the election workers. The online campaign was meant to interfere with the turnover efforts by “inciting members of the public to fight (whatever that means),” they wrote. Ted Goodman, used the hashtag in a voicing his opposition to the forced turnover of Giuliani’s 1980 : “I’m calling on ALL Americans to speak out against this lawfare. Shame on the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher for participating in this injustice. .” The alleged owner of the Long Island storage facility — where the former Trump lawyer is accused of hiding some items from his New York City apartment — also on X that “this is not going to happen. America has to come back real fast. Pray for , today is his day.” “The public relations campaign described above has no legal purpose — this is a turnover proceeding governed by facts and law, not a political campaign — and, instead, is an obvious attempt to obstruct and intimidate Receivers from effectuating the duties that this Court has authorized them to perform,” Gottlieb wrote. Earlier this week, the election workers asked a judge in Washington, DC who had presided over their initial case to consider sanctions against Giuliani after he repeated “the exact same lies for which [he] has already been held liable, and which he agreed to be bound by court order to stop repeating” during recent livestreams. They are asking Giuliani to segregate his property from all property in the storage unit that they are entitled — along with a list of those items — no later than December 6. It’s unclear whether his Joe DiMaggio jersey, signed art, or sports memorabilia that he has been ordered to turn over is in that facility, the letter says. So the election workers have instructed Giuliani to provide instructions as to where to find these items before the next hearing on November 26 “or explain why he is incapable of doing so” before 3 p.m. on November 25, Gottlieb said. A $250 billion proposal for a deal, drafted by Azerbaijan’s COP29 presidency on Friday, was deemed woefully insufficient by developing countries. It was not clear if the wealthy countries’ revised position had been formally communicated to developing countries at the gathering in the Azerbaijan capital Baku, and whether it would be enough to win their support. The COP29 talks have laid bare the divisions between wealthy governments constrained by tight domestic budgets and developing nations reeling from the soaring costs of storms, floods and droughts fuelled by climate change. Past failures to meet climate finance obligations have also made developing countries mistrustful of new promises. The new goal is intended to replace developed countries’ previous commitment to provide $100 billion in climate finance for poorer nations per year by 2020. That goal was met two years late, in 2022, and expires in 2025. Five sources with knowledge of the closed-door discussions said the EU had agreed it could accept the higher number of $300 billion a year. Two of the sources said the United States, Australia and Britain were also on board. A European Commission spokesperson and an Australian government spokesperson both declined to comment on the negotiations. The US delegation at COP29 and the UK energy ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment. With no formal update yet of the deal draft from the COP29 presidency, the mood was tense among negotiating groups. “There is no clarity on the way forward. A final round of talks on a treaty to end plastic pollution opens on Monday, with the diplomat chairing the difficult negotiations warning nations not to miss a "once-in-a-generation opportunity". Plastic pollution is so ubiquitous that it has been found in clouds, the deepest ocean trenches and even in human breastmilk. And while almost everyone agrees it is a problem, there is less consensus on how to solve it. Nations have just a week in South Korea's Busan to solve thorny issues including whether to cap plastic production, a possible ban on chemicals feared toxic to human health, and how to pay for the treaty. "There are some real differences on some key elements," UN Environment Programme chief Inger Andersen acknowledged Sunday in a meeting with observers at the talks. "I believe that we absolutely can land this, but that it will take everybody shuffling a little bit into the bus," she said. Plastic production is expected to triple by 2060. More than 90 percent of plastic is not recycled, with over 20 million tonnes leaking into the environment, often after just a few minutes of use. Plastic also accounts for around three percent of global emissions, mostly linked to its production from fossil fuels. 'Once-in-a-generation' Some countries, including the so-called High Ambition Coalition (HAC) that groups many African, Asian and European nations, want to discuss the entire "lifecycle" of plastics. That means limiting production, redesigning products for reuse and recycling, and addressing waste. On the other side are countries, largely oil producers like Saudi Arabia and Russia, who want a downstream focus on waste alone. The HAC wants binding global targets on reducing production and warned ahead of the Busan talks that "vested interests" should not be allowed to hamper a deal. However, it leaves the thorniest issues largely unaddressed, angering some more ambitious nations and environmental groups. Valdivieso nonetheless insisted on Sunday that "a shared understanding has been emerging," while reminding nations they have just 63 working hours in a "crucial week" to land a deal. "This treaty is a once-in-a-generation opportunity," he said. 'Treaty people are demanding' Some observers believe the talks are likely to falter and be extended -- especially after the difficult negotiations at UN climate and biodiversity conferences in recent weeks. But both Andersen and Valdivieso insist a deal must be reached in Busan. That has some environmental groups worried that an agreement will be watered down to ensure something is signed. As in previous editions of the poll, the logic (or lack thereof) that the committee uses to rank these teams is inconsistent at best and incompetent at worst. Attorneys for election workers that defamed wrote a scathing letter accusing the former mayor of launching a crusade meant to “to obstruct and intimidate” them as they try to recover his assets. In a Friday to a federal judge, Michael Gottlieb, a lawyer representing election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, accused of orchestrating a “public relations campaign” meant to stop the women from Last December, Giuliani was ordered to pay Freeman and Moss nearly $150 million after a court found he defamed them by falsely claiming they manipulated election results in 2020. The decision led ’s disgraced attorney to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which has since been . The mother-daughter duo are now what they are owed. But a barrage of recent court filings, including Giuliani’s attempts to appeal, reveal a weeks-long legal battle that the women argue is the former mayor’s attempts to delay, block or obstruct them from collecting what he has been ordered to turn over. Both Giuliani’s new lawyer and those in his inner circle have argued that the former mayor was wronged and have set out on a mission “designed to interfere” with the women’s “efforts to perform their duties by attacking the underlying judgment,” the letter said. Joey Cammarata, who is representing Giuliani after his previous legal team , held a press conference on Wednesday outside of the offices of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, the firm representing the election workers, where he “launched a variety of attacks” against this case, Gottlieb wrote. There, Cammarata called the court-ordered turnover of Giuliani’s belongings a “seek and destroy mission of America’s mayor.” “We will not relent,” he said. “They are doing everything they can to stop Mr. Giuliani from having a formidable defense. We are not going to allow it. ... This firm is doing everything in its power to break an 80-year-old patriot to its country, an American who did so many great things for us.” This rhetoric was also echoed on social media, where the hashtag “IStandWithRudy” started trending, according to lawyers for the election workers. The online campaign was meant to interfere with the turnover efforts by “inciting members of the public to fight (whatever that means),” they wrote. Ted Goodman, used the hashtag in a voicing his opposition to the forced turnover of Giuliani’s 1980 : “I’m calling on ALL Americans to speak out against this lawfare. Shame on the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher for participating in this injustice. .” The alleged owner of the Long Island storage facility — where the former Trump lawyer is accused of hiding some items from his New York City apartment — also on X that “this is not going to happen. They are asking Giuliani to segregate his property from all property in the storage unit that they are entitled — along with a list of those items — no later than December 6. It’s unclear whether his Joe DiMaggio jersey, signed art, or sports memorabilia that he has been ordered to turn over is in that facility, the letter says. So the election workers have instructed Giuliani to provide instructions as to where to find these items before the next hearing on November 26 “or explain why he is incapable of doing so” before 3 p.m. on November 25, Gottlieb said. It was not clear if the wealthy countries’ revised position had been formally communicated to developing countries at the gathering in the Azerbaijan capital Baku, and whether it would be enough to win their support. The COP29 talks have laid bare the divisions between wealthy governments constrained by tight domestic budgets and developing nations reeling from the soaring costs of storms, floods and droughts fuelled by climate change. Past failures to meet climate finance obligations have also made developing countries mistrustful of new promises. The new goal is intended to replace developed countries’ previous commitment to provide $100 billion in climate finance for poorer nations per year by 2020. That goal was met two years late, in 2022, and expires in 2025. Five sources with knowledge of the closed-door discussions said the EU had agreed it could accept the higher number of $300 billion a year. Two of the sources said the United States, Australia and Britain were also on board. A European Commission spokesperson and an Australian government spokesperson both declined to comment on the negotiations. The US delegation at COP29 and the UK energy ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment. With no formal update yet of the deal draft from the COP29 presidency, the mood was tense among negotiating groups. “There is no clarity on the way forward. A final round of talks on a treaty to end plastic pollution opens on Monday, with the diplomat chairing the difficult negotiations warning nations not to miss a "once-in-a-generation opportunity". Plastic pollution is so ubiquitous that it has been found in clouds, the deepest ocean trenches and even in human breastmilk. And while almost everyone agrees it is a problem, there is less consensus on how to solve it. Nations have just a week in South Korea's Busan to solve thorny issues including whether to cap plastic production, a possible ban on chemicals feared toxic to human health, and how to pay for the treaty. "There are some real differences on some key elements," UN Environment Programme chief Inger Andersen acknowledged Sunday in a meeting with observers at the talks. "I believe that we absolutely can land this, but that it will take everybody shuffling a little bit into the bus," she said. Plastic production is expected to triple by 2060. More than 90 percent of plastic is not recycled, with over 20 million tonnes leaking into the environment, often after just a few minutes of use. Plastic also accounts for around three percent of global emissions, mostly linked to its production from fossil fuels. 'Once-in-a-generation' Some countries, including the so-called High Ambition Coalition (HAC) that groups many African, Asian and European nations, want to discuss the entire "lifecycle" of plastics. That means limiting production, redesigning products for reuse and recycling, and addressing waste. On the other side are countries, largely oil producers like Saudi Arabia and Russia, who want a downstream focus on waste alone. The HAC wants binding global targets on reducing production and warned ahead of the Busan talks that "vested interests" should not be allowed to hamper a deal. Valdivieso nonetheless insisted on Sunday that "a shared understanding has been emerging," while reminding nations they have just 63 working hours in a "crucial week" to land a deal. "This treaty is a once-in-a-generation opportunity," he said. 'Treaty people are demanding' Some observers believe the talks are likely to falter and be extended -- especially after the difficult negotiations at UN climate and biodiversity conferences in recent weeks. But both Andersen and Valdivieso insist a deal must be reached in Busan. That has some environmental groups worried that an agreement will be watered down to ensure something is signed. Georgia Bulldogs (9-2) The 2024 Georgia team will be a case study moving forward when the playoff either collapses completely or becomes a majority SEC/Big 10 affair. This committee can’t seem to wrap its head around the concept of “playing better teams might result in more losses” vs “playing 10 tomato cans and losing to the one good team on the schedule” not being a sensible approach to evaluating teams. Replace Alabama or Ole Miss with one of the bottom tier teams from the SEC and most likely the Dawgs would be ranked #1 or #2 at worst. Would one loss instead of two mean that this team was more likely to win a National Championship than they are now? Not at all. Tennessee Volunteers (9-2) The Vols are a formidable team with RB Dylan Sampson leading the SEC in yards and touchdowns and the defense 4 th in the nation in scoring defense. SMU Mustangs (10-1) The Mustangs currently sit atop the ACC standings at 7-0 and have clinched a berth in the title game regardless of their game with California on Saturday. Indiana Hoosiers (10-1) Indiana has played one of the weakest schedules of any Power 4 conference team. Boise State Broncos (10-1) The Broncos struggled against Wyoming last week before pulling out the 17-13 win. Clemson Tigers (9-2) The Tigers are still alive for a berth in the ACC Championship Game after finishing the conference slate 7-1. Clemson will need a Miami loss to secure a spot in the championship game. The one metric that seems to carry more weight than others is wins and losses which makes perfect sense on a surface level, however what that doesn’t take into consideration is who the wins are against and where and when the losses occurred. Due to the inconsistency of conference size and strength all schedules are not created equally and cannot be judged on an apples-to-apples basis, so strength of schedule must be taken into account when evaluating Team A against Team B. This is something that this committee has not done consistently.
