Triple H's Brilliant Reply to Concerns WWE Raw May Buffer on NetflixNew Zealand and England will honour the late Martin Crowe and Graham Thorpe with a trophy named in the pair's honour, when the three test series starts in Christchurch. The Crowe-Thorpe Trophy will be unveiled by Deb Crowe (Martin's sister) and former England Test captain Michael Atherton on the ground ahead of the national anthems on Thursday. Both players were hugely successful during their time in test cricket. Crowe, a former Black Caps captain played 77 tests and died of cancer in 2016. He was 53. He averaged 45.36 in his test career scoring 17 centuries - the last of which was against England at Old Trafford in 1994. His higest test score was 299, scored against Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve in Wellington in 1991. Thorpe played 100 tests for England. He took his own life in August this year, his family said . He was 55 Thorpe scored 16 test centuries averaging 44.66. His highest score was 200 not out - against New Zealand in 2002. The trophy is made from wood from a bat from each player. The bat gifted by the Thorpe family (a Kookaburra) is the one with which Graham scored his first two centuries against New Zealand, in consecutive Tests in 1997, while the one donated by the Crowe family was the GM with which Martin scored his century at Lord's in 1994. New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Scott Weenink said it was fitting the stories and memories of both players would be kept alive through the newly named trophy. "Today's generation of players are standing on the shoulders of those who went before them, players like Graham and Martin," said Weenink. "Both were seriously good batsmen who understood the game intimately - they commanded respect wherever they went." Richard Gould, ECB Chief Executive Officer, said "it's heart-breaking to have lost both men so early, but by honouring them in this way I hope we can help ensure the memories and legacies of two of our nations' finest cricketers live on long into the future."

BERLIN (AP) — Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk caused uproar after backing Germany’s far-right party in a major newspaper ahead of key parliamentary elections in the Western European country, leading to the resignation of the paper’s opinion editor in protest. Germany is to vote in an early election on Feb. 23 after Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s three-party governing coalition collapsed last month in a dispute over how to revitalize the country’s stagnant economy. Musk's guest opinion piece for Welt am Sonntag —a sister publication of POLITICO owned by the Axel Springer Group — published in German over the weekend, was the second time this month he supported the Alternative for Germany, or AfD. “The Alternative for Germany (AfD) is the last spark of hope for this country," Musk wrote in his translated commentary. He went on to say the far-right party “can lead the country into a future where economic prosperity, cultural integrity and technological innovation are not just wishes, but reality.” The Tesla Motors CEO also wrote that his investment in Germany gave him the right to comment on the country's condition. The AfD is polling strongly, but its candidate for the top job, Alice Weidel , has no realistic chance of becoming chancellor because other parties refuse to work with the far-right party. An ally of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, the technology billionaire challenged in his opinion piece the party's public image. “The portrayal of the AfD as right-wing extremist is clearly false, considering that Alice Weidel, the party’s leader, has a same-sex partner from Sri Lanka! Does that sound like Hitler to you? Please!” Musk’s commentary has led to a debate in German media over the boundaries of free speech, with the paper's own opinion editor announcing her resignation, pointedly on Musk's social media platform, X. “I always enjoyed leading the opinion section of WELT and WAMS. Today an article by Elon Musk appeared in Welt am Sonntag. I handed in my resignation yesterday after it went to print," Eva Marie Kogel wrote. A critical article by the future editor-in-chief of the Welt group, Jan Philipp Burgard, accompanied Musk’s opinion piece. “Musk’s diagnosis is correct, but his therapeutic approach, that only the AfD can save Germany, is fatally wrong,” Burgard wrote. Responding to a request for comment from the German Press Agency, dpa, the current editor-in-chief of the Welt group, Ulf Poschardt, and Burgard — who is due to take over on Jan. 1 — said in a joint statement that the discussion over Musk's piece was "very insightful. Democracy and journalism thrive on freedom of expression.” “This will continue to determine the compass of the “world” in the future. We will develop “Die Welt” even more decisively as a forum for such debates,” they wrote to dpa.Sempra Named Among Newsweek's 'Most Responsible Companies'Kimberley Seward, a forensic digital examiner with the London Police Service, testified that she got involved in the bush party shooting trial by examining the contents of cellphones and laptops of many of those involved in the case. That included the accused, Carlos Guerra Guerra, 23, as well as Emily Altmann, who has been described in court as his former girlfriend at the time of the shooting. Seward told the jury that even though Altmann has erased the text messages from her phone, they were able to be located on her MacBook. Shortly after 18-year-old Josue Silva was shot on July 30, 2021 while at the bush party off of Pack Road in southwest London, there is an early morning text from Guerra Guerra to Altmann, saying, "Make sure everyone understands to forget the night." Altmann is told to erase the texts with Guerra Guerra, saying, "Delete messages...our whole chat." Then there is one that sounds threatening, "If anyone in ur group snitched you know what's gonna happen to them." It continues, "Tell everyone keep their f---ing mouths shut." Then another text from the accused stated, "If he dies you already know what time it is." Silva would later be pronounced dead in hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach. Guerra Guerra would be charged and in court he has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and assault with a weapon. Last week, the jury was told that Altmann and her defence team are no longer involved in the trial and that they were not to speculate as to the reason. The trial resumes next week. One of my fondest childhood memories was taking family roadtrips to cities. Where we lived in rural South Central Pennsylvania was simple and quiet, so getting up close to famous landmarks like Washington, D.C.’s Lincoln Memorial and seeing so much diversity and energy in one place was a welcome change of scenery. I still get a thrill out of visiting urban American destinations. In contrast to the jaunts of my youth, though, I prefer doing these trips solo now. While having a companion has its time and place—typically for longer overeas vacations that require more detailed planning—I love exploring American cities indendently at my own pace. And though choosing a solid hotel proved challenging in the past, this year I’ve become loyal to a brand that may surprise you: Canopy by Hilton . Unveiled in 2014, Canopy by Hilton is the global hospitality brand ’s first lifestyle brand combining the best qualities of boutique hotels (modern design, locally-curated food and drink) and dependable hotel chains (safety, amenities like gyms) with addresses in the world’s most desirable destinations. Hilton Honors members and jetsetters alike responded favorably to the launch; currently, there are are 45 Canopy locations worldwide, with 29 in the pipeline. And compared to other higher-end properties, Canopy’s nightly rates are very competitively priced under $300. To experience the brand’s ever-growing appeal—and learn why it’s such a smart choice for solo female travelers—I visited two Canopy properties on opposite sides of the country, Canopy by Hilton Portland Pearl District and Canopy by Hilton Portland Waterfront , a couple months ago. Here’s what you can enjoy across all Canopy by Hilton hotels: a warm staff that’s eager to help with no air of stuffiness. You’ll also be welcomed with a modern and residental-feeling design; common spaces are kitted out with ample seating and tables for working, socializing, and everything in between. The signature Just-Right accommodations are true to their name: entry-level rooms are space-saving yet savvy with their open configurations, oversized windows for maximum light, and low-slung Canopy Serta beds, while suites merge the comforts of home with the convenience of a full-service hotel. Other standard perks include water stations and glass bottles—sustainability is one of the Canopy’s key pillars—Nespresso machines in every room, and a fitness enter. What makes every Canopy by Hilton hotel special, however, is the locally-curated food and beverage. It would have been easy for the brand to roll out the same culinary offerings across its portfolio; instead, each property gets to showcase what makes their hometowns unique and different. At Vaux , Canopy by Hilton Portland Pearl District’s all-day restaurant and bar, the menu reflects Portland touches and global influences (think: warm pretzel with Tillamook beer cheese, sausage-topped Oregon corn polenta, pastrami sandwich with local pale ale-infused sauerkraut). The beverages, too, pay homage to the region with a strong showing from area breweries (Occidental Kolsch, Migration Straight Outta Portland) and wineries (A to Z, Lange). Meanwhile, Canopy by Hilton Portland Waterfront’s two dining concepts, Salt Yard and Luna Rooftop Bar , turn out the iconic foods Maine’s biggest city is famous for—and much more. An open, industrial-feeling space that transforms from daytime cafe to evening lounge, Salt Yard serves up a tender lobster roll brightened by citrus aioli alongside lesser-known Portland sips and bites like Rwanda Bean coffee and Orchard Ridge Farm bagels. But it’s tough to top the appeal of Luna Rooftop Bar, where you’ll see locals and hotel guests savoring icy local oysters and Maine crab bruschetta with the tranquil waterfront as the backdrop. It’s a lovely place to enjoy everything that makes Portland such a beloved destination.Welcome to the Week 12 NFL fantasy and betting cheat sheet, a one-stop shop for The Athletic ’s game previews, injury and weather updates, and expert analysis. Zay Flowers continues to impress (though somewhat inconsistently), while Diontae Johnson has become a fantasy drop, averaging two targets and 0.5 receptions per game. The Chargers defense is tough, and Tuli Tuipulotu has led the NFL over the past three weeks with six sacks, but Jackson has the third-most time to throw in the league. This Harbaugh brothers matchup is full of talent and intrigue. Read the full preview . Statistics in this section come from TruMedia. Fantasy football Week 12 takeaways Michael Salfino recaps Week 12’s action through a fantasy lens. Jayden Daniels had a good game again, accounting for three TDs, fueled mostly by one late miracle play. But I don’t understand why he’s such a heavy favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year over Bo Nix . Nix has the same record as Daniels and has 16 TD passes and just two picks in his past nine games, plus two games with at least 61 rushing yards. Jaylen Waddle punished us for benching him, though the byes hopefully forced your hand. But now we have a Tyreek Hill problem. His 17-game pace in 2024: 76-882-5. Yikes. De’Von Achane is averaging 4.3 yards per carry, which his believers would have found unfathomable in August. However, the catches and five receiving TDs have made him worthy of his ADP anyway. I will be fading this receiving production in 2025, you can be certain. — Salfino Read all of Salfino’s Week 12 takeaways Fantasy football Week 12 recap KC Joyner answers lingering Week 12 fantasy football questions. Barkley racked up an incredible 46.2 points against the Rams on Sunday night. It marked only the ninth time since the 2020 season that a running back has posted 46 or more points in a game. He now leads the league in games with 32-plus points, which he’s had in two straight weeks. He and Derrick Henry are the only running backs to put up back-to-back performances of over 30 PPR points this season. Advertisement This incredible scoring largesse leads one to ask if Barkley can break LaDainian Tomlinson’s all-time record for RB fantasy points in a season. Tomlinson tallied 481.1 with the San Diego Chargers in a 16-game season in 2006. Barkley currently has 265.9 points, which means he needs to score at least 215.3 points in the Eagles’ remaining six games to break Tomlinson’s record. Some quick math shows that is a 35.9-point per-game pace, a figure Barkley has only surpassed once this year (Sunday night against the Rams). Evidence would suggest Barkley cannot break this record, but the Eagles have four green-rated rush defenses left in those six games. If Barkley can rack up a couple of 40-plus point games (a difficult but not impossible proposition), he still has a puncher’s chance at overtaking LT for the best RB season in fantasy football history. — Joyner See all of Joyner’s Week 12 notes . Representatives from city and county governments, law enforcement, education, and nonprofit organizations heard a legislative update and learned tips on walking through the appropriation process from Melanie Hill, Southeast Alabama Representative for U.S. Sen. Katie Britt. In the second year of her first term in office, Britt has field offices in Tuscaloosa, Hunstville, Aniston, Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, and Dothan. Each has a field representative serving as a liaison for citizens with issues involving federal agencies. The Dothan office is base for the 13 Wiregrass counties Hill is responsible for, she said. Hill encouraged those interested in more information about appropriations that have been preliminarily approved to visit Britt’s website, https://www.britt.senate.gov , and clicking on “appropriations requests” under the “priorities” tab. “Our team goes and fights for the money” requested by Britt’s constituents, Hill stressed. The office hopes to be able to fund about 100 projects. The money granted is distributed in the next calendar year, she said. ‘“I’ve known her since she was six years old,” Hill said about the first-term senator and Enterprise native. “I told her when she was 13 years old standing in the Coppinville Junior High School parking lot that I wanted to work for her when she became governor one day,” Hill said. “What she is doing on behalf of people is tremendous,” Hill said. “She reaches across the (political) aisle because she knows the value of doing that. “A lot of the things she deals with are issues for everybody, regardless of their political affiliation,” Hill added. “To get America back where we want it to be, we have to reach across the aisle and come to some agreements.” Britt accepts applications for congressional appropriations via her website, Hill said.

In Weeks 10 and 11 combined, Will Dissly led the Chargers with 12 targets; McConkey had 11, Quentin Johnston saw 10, and Joshua Palmer was targeted six times. Jake Ciely has McConkey as WR18 this week and Johnston as WR23 . Rashod Bateman , WR, Ravens (knee) — Active Bateman didn’t practice Friday due to a knee injury but is active for Week 12. While many thought Diontae Johnson ’s arrival in Baltimore could affect Bateman’s targets, it hasn’t. Since being traded to the Ravens in Week 9, Johnson has had only four total targets and one reception, and his highest PPR total in Baltimore is 1.6. In that time, Bateman has had 11 receptions on 17 targets. In Week 10, he scored 17.4 PPR points, but in each of Weeks 9 and 11, he scored only 5 PPR points. Baltimore Ravens (7-4) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (7-3) Coming off a tough Week 11 loss to the Steelers , the Ravens are favored by less than a field goal on the road against the Chargers in this AFC matchup that has head coaches Jim and John Harbaugh meeting for the first time since Super Bowl XLVII. The Jim Harbaugh-led Chargers have been rolling lately. Justin Herbert is throwing more and ranks sixth in passer rating (102.1), J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards are handling backfield work, and Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston lead the Chargers’ wide receivers in targets, receiving yards and yards after the catch. Advertisement Lamar Jackson has had an MVP season for Baltimore (excluding last week’s poor performance), but Derrick Henry has taken a step back lately with under 80 net yards in three of his last four games. CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks fired coach Luke Richardson on Thursday, signaling their frustration with the state of the franchise's rebuilding project. Chicago has dropped four in a row to fall to an NHL-worst 8-16-2 on the season. It was outscored 41-27 while going 3-9-1 in its last 13 games.
