lucky key full movie A graffiti attack has been condemned as the latest hate crime designed to strike fear into Jewish communities, as leaders worry about how the attacks could escalate. or signup to continue reading The overnight incident in Sydney's eastern suburbs is an "abhorrent anti-Semitic hate crime" following similar incidents across the country, the prime minister says. Graffiti including 'Kill Israiel' (sic) was sprayed on buildings and footpaths in Woollahra, a suburb known for its Jewish community, in the early hours of Wednesday. A car, believed to be stolen, which the perpetrators drove to the scene was set on fire on Magney Street, NSW police said. Resources have been increased as officers follow all leads, Commissioner Karen Webb told reporters. "What happened last night is disgusting, and there's no place for hate of this nature in Sydney or anywhere in Australia," she said. Premier Chris Minns said it was a hate crime. "A violent act of destruction, clearly anti-Semitic, designed to strike fear into the community that lives in this part of Sydney," he told reporters. The perpetrators, believed to be two males of slim build, aged between 15 and 20, wore face coverings and dark clothing. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it was an "anti-Semitic attack". "This isn't an attack on a government, this is an attack on people because they happen to be Jewish," he told ABC radio. "This is a hate crime, it's as simple as that." Mr Albanese said the perpetrators committed "abhorrent criminal behaviour". "This does not change anything that is occurring on the ground in the Middle East," he said. "This is an attack against their fellow Australians." Foreign Minister Penny Wong said acts of hate had no place in Australia and anti-Semitism was condemned wherever it occurred. "Australian Jewish communities have a right to be and feel safe," she said on social media. The attack comes after the Adass Israel Synagogue at Ripponlea in Melbourne's southeast was set alight in a pre-dawn attack on Friday while a number of people were inside. Australian Federal Police have set up a special operation in response to the "likely" act of terrorism, which will investigate threats, violence and hatred towards the Jewish community and parliamentarians. It will also investigate Wednesday's attack, the second recent incident in Woollahra after buildings and vehicles were targeted in November. A ute was set on fire, and multiple cars, a restaurant and other buildings were graffitied with anti-Israel messages. Two men are in custody, charged over that attack. Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin said it was designed to terrorise Jewish Australians. "The Jewish community again wakes to scenes of terror and devastation," he said. "How long will this continue and with what horrors will it end?" DAILY Today's top stories curated by our news team. Every Australian child will be able to attend childcare for at least three days a week to "give them the best possible start in life". or signup to continue reading Families earning less than $530,000 a year will be guaranteed access to the government's child care subsidy for three days a week if Labor is re-elected. "There's some children that are really cut out or locked out of the system through no fault of their own because of the circumstances their parents," Education Minister Jason Clare told ABC TV on Wednesday. "They can't get access to three days of early education a week and that inevitably means that these children start behind the rest of the classroom when they go to kindergarten or prep and this is about fixing that." Labor will also scrap the activity test, which requires parents to be in paid work to access the subsidies. The test "was a punitive policy that has locked out as many as 126,000 children, particularly from lower income households, disadvantaged backgrounds and First Nations children", The Parenthood's Georgie Dent told Sky News. One in five children started school "developmentally vulnerable" and this increased to two in five among Indigenous kids, she said. "When children arrive at school behind it is incredibly difficult for them to catch up to their peers over the course of their life, so we've got this window between zero and five, where we can set the trajectory of a little person's life." Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will launch the policy at the Building Early Education for Australia's Future event in Brisbane on Wednesday. It would benefit about 66,000 families, he said as he defended the income threshold. "This is about children, just as everyone can send their child to the local public school or the local high school because we understand that these issues are universal," he told ABC radio. "We want every child to be able to access three days of quality early education." Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley questioned how much it would cost taxpayers. "Who is going to pay? We want to see affordable, accessible childcare, of course we do, but it has to be sustainable," she said. The announcement follows a September Productivity Commission report, which found children from vulnerable or disadvantaged communities would benefit most from early childhood education but were also the least likely to attend. A universal childcare system would ensure every child aged up to five has access to high-quality early childhood education and care for at least 30 hours or three days a week, for 48 weeks of the year. The best way to achieve this and boost attendance for low and middle income earners was to scrap the activity test and expand funding for families earning up to $80,000 and households less than $140,000 with multiple children under five. Universal early childhood education and care supports women in the workforce, reduces developmental vulnerabilities and transforms lives, associate commissioner and report co-author Deborah Brennan says. Jaland Lowe flirted with a triple-double as Pitt improved to 6-0 with a 74-63 win over LSU on Friday afternoon at the Greenbrier Tip-Off in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Lowe finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists for the Panthers, who have won their first six games of a season for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign. It would have been the second straight triple-double for Lowe, who had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against VMI Monday. Ishmael Leggett chipped in 21 points and Cameron Corhen supplied 14, helping Pitt outshoot the Tigers (4-1) 44.4 percent to 37.3 percent overall. Vyctorius Miller and Jalen Reed recorded 14 points apiece for LSU, with Reed also snatching seven boards. Cam Carter contributed 11 points. Pitt took control in the first four-plus minutes of the second half, opening the period on a 13-0 run to build a 40-28 lead. The Tigers were held scoreless following the break until Carter converted a layup with 13:13 to go. It was still a 12-point game after Zack Austin hit a pair of free throws with 12:50 remaining, but LSU then rallied. Corey Chest, Reed and Jordan Sears each had a bucket down low for the Tigers during an 8-1 spurt that made it 43-38. However, Lowe stemmed the tide, answering with back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Panthers up 49-38 with 9:31 left. Miller did everything he could to keep LSU in contention, scoring eight points in a span of 1 minute, 23 seconds, with his four-point play getting the Tigers within 56-52 with 6:03 to play. But Pitt never let LSU get the upper hand, and it led by at least six for the final 5:05 of the contest. The Tigers had a 28-27 edge at intermission after ending the first half on an 8-2 run. LSU overcame a quick start by the Panthers, who raced out to a 12-6 advantage and led by as many as eight in the first 20 minutes of action. --Field Level Media

Right Time Group Names Jason Moore as Chief Financial OfficerWalmart's DEI rollback signals a profound shift in the wake of Trump's election victoryReddit's internal search engine is often criticized as one of the site's weakest features but the platform claims AI integration will make it "faster, smarter, and more relevant." Reddit Answers, which the site announced has begun rolling out to a limited number of users in the US today, allows redditors to "ask questions and receive answers using a new, AI-powered conversational interface" that returns "curated summaries of relevant conversations and details across Reddit ... including links to related communities and posts," the social media giant said in a blog post. Reddit didn't include much information about what it'll look like, with the blog post featuring only a single animated GIF of an example search for "tips for better sleep." If you use Google, you know perfectly well what this looks like: Google search results now surface bullet-pointed, AI-generated answers to many questions users ask, and the GIF included in Reddit's blog post suggests it operates in a similar way. However, in Reddit's case, the AI-powered results won't cull data from around the internet; instead, it will rely on posts and comments from the site to provide answers. Just like the ChatGPT does. Only a few users have been invited to the Answers beta, with Reddit promising an invitation to this vulture that has yet to materialize. If you're lucky enough to have access, you'll find the feature at reddit.com/answers , or on the Reddit homepage along with buttons for Home, Popular posts, Explore, and the like. The Answers feature is also available in the latest version of the Reddit app for iOS, where those with access will find it along the bottom of the home screen with buttons for Home, Communities, Chat and other features. No word on an Android release was provided. It's also not clear when it will be made more widely available, with a Reddit spokesperson only telling us the biz has plans to expand Answers to additional languages in the coming months. Reddit has been vocal about its plans to integrate AI into the site. In February, it announced a partnership with Google to provide post and comment data to the Chocolate Factory for its AI models, followed by signing a deal with OpenAI in May to integrate Reddit content into ChatGPT, too. Reddit told us that Answers is "Reddit-built tech and not based on a partnership," and while the company integrates models from OpenAI and Google, Answers is a model of its very own. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has been following Reddit since it went public in March: The social media giant finally turned a profit for the first time in its history in its third quarter of 2024, which ended in October, and AI has been credited with much of the reason for the boost. As we mentioned in our look at Reddit going all-in on AI, CEO Steve Huffman has had plenty to say about plans to integrate AI into Reddit's search engine, a site feature that has had no end of criticism from redditors. "[Search is] an important part of our strategy and will be a focused investment for us heading into 2025," Huffman said on the Q3 earnings call. "We'll start working [on] integrating LLMs into making our results more sophisticated ... you'll start to see this over the course of the next year," Huffman added. Redditors commenting on the news, however, don't seem as enthused as Huffman or investors about the prospect of AI Answers on Reddit. "So instead of finding a way to make Reddit search actually work and not be a flaming dumpster they turn to AI to try and fill in the blanks," one user opined in a thread discussing the Answers beta launch. Another poster noted that it was purely a move to please investors and VCs, while others predicted chaos as highly-upvoted sarcastic responses work their way into top results, à la suggestions to eat rocks or add glue to pizza cheese to help it stick. Reddit assured us that users don't need to worry about Answers ruining the site or subsuming the existing search function: It's not going away, so you're free to keep hating both. As for how well it works, we'll let you know if and when we get access. ®

L'Istituto per l'Innovazione Tecnologica di Abu Dhabi inaugura l'Open-Source AI Summit con discussioni critiche sul futuro dell'AIBOSTON – A Massachusetts judge dismissed criminal charges Monday against a backer of Karen Read who admitted placing dozens of yellow rubber ducks and fake $100 bills around town in support of Read. Richard Schiffer Jr. had argued in Stoughton District Court that he had a First Amendment right to support the defense theory that Read — accused of ramming into her boyfriend John O’Keefe with her SUV and leaving the Boston police officer to die in a snowstorm — has been framed in the polarizing murder case. Recommended Videos Schiffer's attorney Timothy Bradl said Monday that the judge made the right call by quickly tossing the felony witness intimidation and criminal harassment charges against Schiffer. The ruling comes as another judge decided Monday to push back Read's retrial to April after a mistrial was declared in July when jurors couldn’t reach an agreement. Read was facing second-degree murder charges and two other charges. Her attorneys have argued that other law enforcement officers were responsible for O’Keefe’s death. Regarding Schiffer's charges, Bradl said, “There wasn't a leg to stand on.” “Hats off to the judge. He didn’t make everyone wait and ruled from the bench. Everything was completely protected by the First Amendment. This was political speech," Bradl said. The Norfolk District Attorney’s office declined to comment. Schiffer has said he got the ducks idea after thinking about a defense lawyer’s closing argument that Read was framed . Alan Jackson told jurors that “if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it’s a duck.” Schiffer's actions did not rise to the level of witness intimidation and criminal harassment "nor does his speech, or in this case his written word on fake currency and use of rubber toys, which are afforded the protections of the First Amendment," Judge Brian Walsh wrote. “It is the view of this Court that the defendant's conduct and speech, though a rather sophomoric expression of his opinion, is nonetheless protected speech,” he wrote. Walsh concluded the two-page ruling with quotes from Indiana poet James Whitcomb Riley, believed to have coined the “walks like a duck” phrase, and Robert McCloskey, author of the children's book “Make Way For Ducklings.” The defense alleged that O’Keefe was actually killed inside the home of his fellow Boston officer Brian Albert and then dragged outside. They argued that investigators focused on Read because she was a “convenient outsider” who saved them from having to consider law enforcement officers as suspects. Schiffer has been among the dozens of Read supporters who accuse state and local law enforcement of a widespread cover-up. Their demonstrations have led to confrontations, especially in the town of Canton where the murder happened, between those who support Read and others who believe she is guilty. Schiffer, who owns Canton Fence and has said that he knows practically everyone in town through his contracting work, was accused of placing some of the ducks outside a pizza shop run by Brian Albert’s brother, Canton Selectman Chris Albert. Other ducks appeared in O’Keefe’s neighborhood.Bankwell financial director Carl Porto buys $6,448 in stockAP Trending SummaryBrief at 3:36 p.m. EST

Judge Dismisses Charges Against Karen Read Supporter Who Scattered Rubber Ducks and Fake $100 Bills

Joe Burrow's home broken into during Monday Night Football in latest pro-athlete home invasionBEIRUT (AP) — In 2006, after a bruising monthlong war between Israel and Lebanon’s powerful Hezbollah militant group, the unanimously voted for a resolution to end the conflict and pave the way for lasting security along the border. But while there was relative calm for nearly two decades, Resolution 1701’s terms were never fully enforced. Now, figuring out how to finally enforce it is key to approved by Israel on Tuesday. In late September, after nearly , the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah spiraled into all-out war and an . As Israeli jets pound deep inside Lebanon and Hezbollah fires rockets deeper into northern Israel, U.N. and diplomatic officials again turned to the 2006 resolution in Years of deeply divided politics and regionwide geopolitical hostilities have halted substantial progress on its implementation, yet the international community believes Resolution 1701 is still the brightest prospect for long-term stability between Israel and Lebanon. Almost two decades after the last war between Israel and Hezbollah, the United States led shuttle diplomacy efforts between Lebanon and Israel to agree on a ceasefire proposal that renewed commitment to the resolution, this time with an implementation plan to try to bring the document back to life. In 2000, Israel withdrew its forces from most of southern Lebanon along a U.N.-demarcated “Blue Line” that separated the two countries and the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, which most of the world considers occupied Syrian territory. , increased their presence along the line of withdrawal. Resolution 1701 was supposed to complete Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon and ensure Hezbollah would move north of the Litani River, keeping the area exclusively under the Lebanese military and U.N. peacekeepers. Up to 15,000 U.N. peacekeepers would help to maintain calm, return displaced Lebanese and secure the area alongside the Lebanese military. The goal was long-term security, with land borders eventually demarcated to resolve territorial disputes. The resolution also reaffirmed previous ones that call for the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon — Hezbollah among them. “It was made for a certain situation and context,” Elias Hanna, a retired Lebanese army general, told The Associated Press. “But as time goes on, the essence of the resolution begins to hollow.” For years, Lebanon and Israel blamed each other for countless violations along the tense frontier. Israel said Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and growing arsenal remained, and accused the group of using a to spy on troops. Lebanon complained about Israeli military jets and even when there was no active conflict. “You had a role of the UNIFIL that slowly eroded like any other peacekeeping with time that has no clear mandate,” said Joseph Bahout, the director of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy at the American University of Beirut. “They don’t have permission to inspect the area without coordinating with the Lebanese army.” UNIFIL for years has urged Israel to but to no avail. In the ongoing war, the , of obstructing and harming its forces and infrastructure. Hezbollah’s power, meanwhile, has grown, both in its arsenal and as a political influence in the Lebanese state. The Iran-backed group was essential in keeping in power when armed opposition groups tried to topple him, and it supports Iran-backed groups in Iraq and Yemen. It has an estimated 150,000 rockets and missiles, including precision-guided missiles pointed at Israel, and . Hanna says Hezbollah “is something never seen before as a non-state actor” with political and military influence. Israel’s security Cabinet approved the ceasefire agreement late Tuesday, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. The ceasefire is set to take hold at 4 a.m. local time Wednesday. for the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah underscored that they still view the resolution as key. For almost a year, Washington has promoted various versions of a deal that would gradually lead to its full implementation. International mediators hope that by boosting financial support for the Lebanese army — which was not a party in the Israel-Hezbollah war — Lebanon can deploy some 6,000 additional troops south of the Litani River to help enforce the resolution. Under the deal, an international monitoring committee headed by the United States would oversee implementation to ensure that Hezbollah and Israel’s withdrawals take place. It is not entirely clear how the committee would work or how potential violations would be reported and dealt with. The circumstances now are far more complicated than in 2006. Some are still skeptical of the resolution’s viability given that the political realities and balance of power both regionally and within Lebanon have dramatically changed since then. “You’re tying 1701 with a hundred things,” Bahout said. “A resolution is the reflection of a balance of power and political context.” Now with the ceasefire in place, the hope is that Israel and Lebanon can begin negotiations to demarcate their land border and settle disputes over several points along the Blue Line for long-term security after decades of conflict and tension.

Funded research will benefit policymakers and the affordable housing industry HARRISBURG, Pa. , Dec. 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has named Jessica Aviva and Marrea Walker-Smith as its 2025 Kathy A. Possinger Housing Policy Fellowship recipients. Both Aviva and Walker-Smith will receive a financial stipend of up to $12,000 during the year to conduct research benefiting the affordable housing industry. "PHFA supports this housing fellowship because it produces a number of important benefits," said PHFA Executive Director and CEO Robin Wiessmann . "We have a responsibility to prepare the next generation of housing thought-leaders, and this fellowship helps to do that. Also, during the first five years of this fellowship, we have begun compiling a valuable archive of original research by our fellows, which benefits housing professionals working throughout the state. Congratulations to both of this year's outstanding housing policy fellows." One new housing policy fellow is Jessica Aviva , who is the founding director of The Fruition Coalition, which supports the health and vibrancy of organizations and communities. She has also worked as a senior advisor with Hailstone Economic in Scranton , a small business that helps government, businesses and nonprofits with projects to bring lasting positive change in their communities. Aviva holds a doctorate in organizational leadership, as well as degrees in sociology, nonprofit management, and marketing. Among her lengthy list of professional accomplishments, she has authored 11 books, facilitated numerous housing programs in northeastern and north-central Pennsylvania , is a board member with Two Rivers Health and Wellness Foundation, and is a member of the community leadership team of South Side Easton Blueprint Communities. Aviva's research will explore the state of fair housing in rural Pennsylvania and identify ways to help rural communities ensure fair housing opportunities are provided there. Her research proposal notes that rural counties have experienced an influx of people moving from urban areas as they seek more affordable housing. Her research will assist rural communities with tools to ensure that the fair housing rights of newcomers are protected. The second new housing fellow, Marrea Walker-Smith , designs and implements high school business courses for Devon Preparatory School. She is a consultant with the Chester Housing Authority and County of Chester Housing Authority. She is a former consultant with the Chester County Economic Development Council and served 17 years in Chester city government. She currently is working on a master's degree in economics and entrepreneurship for educators at the University of Delaware . She holds numerous degrees, including two other master's degrees. She currently is writing her doctoral dissertation, which will align with her research as a PHFA policy fellow. Walker-Smith partnered with the Chester Housing Authority to launch the first Entrepreneur Innovation Center in a public housing development in Chester. During the last year, she has provided support for residents to earn industry standard certificates in social media, business, and entrepreneurship. Most recently, she spearheaded a grant awarded for $1.5 million for the new Chester e-Health Center, which will provide support with telehealth visits, health technology training for employment, and nurse's aide training as a pipeline for healthcare positions. Walker-Smith's research proposal notes how African Americans who reside in low-income housing developments face significant barriers to financial independence. Her project will explore the role of financial literacy in decision making, financial independence and self-sufficiency for residents in low-income housing developments in Chester. A key goal of the research is to collaborate with the residents to develop a financial education workshop and e-book to help them, and housing providers, better understand the impact of financial literacy on poverty so the lives of people in these situations can be improved. The stipends provided to both these researchers through PHFA's housing policy fellowship can be used for a variety of activities supporting the fellows' approved research, including interviews with experts, securing resources and study materials, and travel for attending relevant conferences. This is the sixth year of PHFA's housing policy fellowship. In 2021, the fellowship was renamed the Kathy A. Possinger Housing Policy Fellowship in honor of PHFA board designee and affordable housing champion Kathy Possinger . She was a passionate affordable housing advocate who served Pennsylvanians for two decades through her work in both the public and private sectors. CNBC Daily Open: Can quantum computing be used in the real world?

By ALANNA DURKIN RICHER WASHINGTON (AP) — One year after the Jan. 6, 2021 , U.S. Capitol attack, Attorney General Merrick Garland said the Justice Department was committed to holding accountable all perpetrators “at any level” for “the assault on our democracy.” That bold declaration won’t apply to at least one person: Donald Trump. Special counsel Jack Smith’s move on Monday to abandon the federal election interference case against Trump means jurors will likely never decide whether the president-elect is criminally responsible for his attempts to cling to power after losing the 2020 campaign. The decision to walk away from the election charges and the separate classified documents case against Trump marks an abrupt end of the Justice Department’s unprecedented legal effort that once threatened his liberty but appears only to have galvanized his supporters. The abandonment of the cases accusing Trump of endangering American democracy and national security does away with the most serious legal threats he was facing as he returns to the White House. It was the culmination of a monthslong defense effort to delay the proceedings at every step and use the criminal allegations to Trump’s political advantage, putting the final word in the hands of voters instead of jurors. “We always knew that the rich and powerful had an advantage, but I don’t think we would have ever believed that somebody could walk away from everything,” said Stephen Saltzburg, a George Washington University law professor and former Justice Department official. “If there ever was a Teflon defendant, that’s Donald Trump.” While prosecutors left the door open to the possibility that federal charges could be re-filed against Trump after he leaves office, that seems unlikely. Meanwhile, Trump’s presidential victory has thrown into question the future of the two state criminal cases against him in New York and Georgia. Trump was supposed to be sentenced on Tuesday after his conviction on 34 felony counts in his New York hush money case , but it’s possible the sentencing could be delayed until after Trump leaves office, and the defense is pushing to dismiss the case altogether. Smith’s team stressed that their decision to abandon the federal cases was not a reflection of the merit of the charges, but an acknowledgement that they could not move forward under longstanding Justice Department policy that says sitting presidents cannot face criminal prosecution. Trump’s presidential victory set “at odds two fundamental and compelling national interests: On the one hand, the Constitution’s requirement that the President must not be unduly encumbered in fulfilling his weighty responsibilities . . . and on the other hand, the Nation’s commitment to the rule of law,” prosecutors wrote in court papers. The move just weeks after Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris underscores the immense personal stake Trump had in the campaign in which he turned his legal woes into a political rallying cry. Trump accused prosecutors of bringing the charges in a bid to keep him out of the White House, and he promised revenge on his perceived enemies if he won a second term. “If Donald J. Trump had lost an election, he may very well have spent the rest of his life in prison,” Vice President-elect JD Vance, wrote in a social media post on Monday. “These prosecutions were always political. Now it’s time to ensure what happened to President Trump never happens in this country again.” After the Jan. 6 attack by Trump supporters that left more than 100 police officers injured, Republican leader Mitch McConnell and several other Republicans who voted to acquit Trump during his Senate impeachment trial said it was up to the justice system to hold Trump accountable. The Jan. 6 case brought last year in Washington alleged an increasingly desperate criminal conspiracy to subvert the will of voters after Trump’s 2020 loss, accusing Trump of using the angry mob of supporters that attacked the Capitol as “a tool” in his campaign to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence and obstruct the certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory. Hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters — many of whom have said they felt called to Washington by Trump — have pleaded guilty or been convicted by juries of federal charges at the same courthouse where Trump was supposed to stand trial last year. As the trial date neared, officials at the courthouse that sits within view of the Capitol were busy making plans for the crush of reporters expected to cover the historic case. But Trump’s argument that he enjoyed absolute immunity from prosecution quickly tied up the case in appeals all the way up to the Supreme Court. The high court ruled in July that former presidents have broad immunity from prosecution , and sent the case back to the trial court to decide which allegations could move forward. lucky key full movie A graffiti attack has been condemned as the latest hate crime designed to strike fear into Jewish communities, as leaders worry about how the attacks could escalate. or signup to continue reading The overnight incident in Sydney's eastern suburbs is an "abhorrent anti-Semitic hate crime" following similar incidents across the country, the prime minister says.

About PHFA The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency works to provide affordable homeownership and rental housing options for older adults, low- and moderate-income families, and people with special housing needs.

But the case was dismissed before the trial court could get a chance to do so. But U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case in July on grounds that Smith was illegally appointed . Smith appealed to the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, but abandoned that appeal on Monday. Smith’s team said it would continue its fight in the appeals court to revive charges against Trump’s two co-defendants because “no principle of temporary immunity applies to them.” In New York, jurors spent weeks last spring hearing evidence in a state case alleging a Trump scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through a hush money payment to a porn actor who said the two had sex. New York prosecutors recently expressed openness to delaying sentencing until after Trump’s second term, while Trump’s lawyers are fighting to have the conviction dismissed altogether. In Georgia, a trial while Trump is in office seems unlikely in a state case charging him and more than a dozen others with conspiring to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state. The case has been on hold since an appeals court agreed to review whether to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over her romantic relationship with the special prosecutor she had hired to lead the case.
