South Africa Music Market Report 2024 - Digital and Physical Music Sales, Major Streaming Services, Streaming Income Challenges and Industry DevelopmentsRep. Michelle Steel , a two-term incumbent in California’s 45th congressional district, appears to have conceded to Derek Tran Wednesday afternoon after a long slog of a race that is one of the nation’s closest remaining contests yet to be called. “From the moment I came to the United States, I knew that giving back to the country that welcomed me with open arms would be part of my future,” said Steel, who made history in 2020 as one of the first Korean American women to be elected to Congress. “The journey to work on behalf of legal immigrants and struggling families took me somewhere I never could have imagined — and for which I will always be grateful — the United States Congress,” she said. “Everything is God’s will and, like all journeys, this one is ending for a new one to begin.” Tran’s lead over Steel on Tuesday edged up to 613 votes in the district that spans Los Angeles and Orange counties, continuing a trend that started last week when the Orange-based Democrat outpaced the Republican from Seal Beach. The race is one of two congressional contests in California and one of three nationally that have yet to be called. The outcomes of those three races will determine the size of the Republican Party’s advantage in the House. Tran declared victory Monday evening , saying the “victory is a testament to the spirit and resilience of our community. As the son of Vietnamese refugees, I understand firsthand the journey and sacrifices many families in our district have made for a better life.” He was vying to become the first Vietnamese American to represent the country’s largest Vietnamese community in Congress. Both Steel and Tran have already filed paperwork to run in the district again in 2026. Related Articles

Tests keep coming for Auburn and Duke, who collide at Cameron Indoor Stadium in a typical prove-it game in a rare environment on Wednesday night. No. 2 Auburn and No. 9 Duke square off less than one month into the season as two of the most battle-tested teams in basketball. They're matched as one of the marquee games in the crossover showcase known as the ACC-SEC Challenge. Auburn (7-0) jumped two spots in the latest Top 25 poll propelled by its Maui Invitational championship. In one of Feast Week's toughest brackets, the Tigers rallied from 18 points down to beat then-No. 4 Iowa State, handled then-No. 12 North Carolina 85-72 and rolled past Memphis 90-76 in the title game. With a week off to shed any remnants of jet lag returning from the islands, Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl is pointing to another potential resume-building win. "The confidence that we're going to get from (Maui) is that we know we can play with anybody," Pearl said. "I promise you this, we'll stay humble and hungry. We will not begin to think too much of ourselves." Helping lead Auburn in Maui was fifth-year power forward Johni Broome. The tournament's MVP, Broome averaged 21.7 points, 15 rebounds, 4.3 assists and three blocks in the three-game sweep. Spearheading a veteran Tigers roster, Broome couldn't care less about individual honors. "I wanted to come to a place where the foundation was already built, and that's why I came to Auburn," Broome said. "Winning player of the year doesn't matter to me. I care about winning games, and making sure I can help my team in any way." Broome's 20.7 points and 12.9 rebounds per game lead the Tigers, while Chad Baker-Mazara adds 12.6 ppg and Denver Jones chips in 11.1. Auburn's next roadblock is earning its first-ever win against Duke. The Tigers are 0-3 all-time against the Blue Devils, including a six-point loss in the 2018 Maui Invitational. Duke (5-2) has already been through three games against ranked opponents. The Blue Devils had a 77-72 loss against then-No. 19 Kentucky, a 14-point win at then-No. 17 Arizona and a 75-72 defeat against No. 1 Kansas last week in Las Vegas. "Best team we've played so far," Pearl said of Duke. Bouncing back on Friday, the Blue Devils took down Seattle 70-48, holding the Redhawks to just 10 made field goals on 47 attempts (21.3 percent). Despite the suffocating defensive effort, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer knows his team has a long way to go. "I wasn't really happy with much tonight, to be honest," Scheyer said on Friday. "I thought we rushed some shots, had too many turnovers. We need to finish stronger, drive stronger, make extra passes, there were a whole bunch of things. ... We just need to get back to practice. In fairness to our guys, we've been traveling a lot and we just need practice time." Pacing the Blue Devils in scoring is five-star freshman Cooper Flagg. He's averaging 15.9 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds. Fellow freshman Kon Knueppel adds 13.4 points per contest. Far less seasoned raw freshman, big man Khaman Maluach has given Duke's interior defense an edge it was lacking last season. A projected lottery pick who can be overshadowed by the Flagg publicity train, Maluach (7-2, 248) is averaging 8.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and has two three-block games. In last year's inaugural ACC-SEC Challenge, Duke lost at Arkansas 80-75 and Auburn topped Virginia Tech 74-57. --Field Level MediaNova Scotia Liberal vote crumbles because of 'damaged' brand, leader tied to Trudeau

Reporting by Harshita Mary Varghese in Bengaluru; Editing by Pooja Desai Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles. , opens new tabThe Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has restricted Point of Sales (PoS) agents to a daily transaction limit of N1.2 million. The apex bank revealed this in its ‘Circular on Cash-Out Limits for Agent Banking Transactions,’ released on Tuesday. It noted that this is in line with its ongoing efforts to advance a cashless economy. “The Bank hereby releases the following policy interventions, which have become necessary to enhance the use of electronic payment channels for agency banking operations,” the circular signed by Oladimeji Yisa Taiwo for the Director, Payments System Management Department, read. According to the Nigerian Financial Services Report, agency banking (Point of Sale [PoS] and mobile money) is one of the major ways people without bank accounts get money from people outside their community and is a key enabler of financial inclusion. As of July 2024, Nigeria had 3.05 million deployed PoS and 4.06 million registered PoS terminals, according to the Nigeria Interbank Settlement System Plc. Read also: CBN imposes N150m fine on banks aiding currency hawking Part of this policy intervention also set a cash withdrawal limit per customer (regardless of channel) at N500,000 per week. All agent banking terminals are now set to a daily maximum transaction cash-out limit of N100,000 per customer, and an agent’s daily cumulative cash-out limit is now pegged at N1.2 million. Also, agent terminals must be connected to a Payment Terminal Service Aggregator (PTSA). “Ensure that all daily transactions per agent, including withdrawals, limits of transactions, and balances in the float accounts of each agent, are sent electronically to NIBSS as a report to the CBN. The template of this report will be sent to principals,” the apex bank noted. According to the CBN, agent banking services are now to be demarcated from merchant activities, and agents must apply the approved Agent Code 6010 for agent banking activities. A recent Bloomberg report spotlighted how agents are filling a gap left by Automated Teller Machines. The country has more than two million mobile agents who handle most of the daily transaction needs of everyday individuals. According to the International Monetary Fund, the country has about 1,600 agents within every square kilometre, driven by the growth of fintech companies like Opay, Paga, and Moniepoint. However, the CBN has been trying to crack down on agents, and in a December 3 circular, it threatened to sanction banks if they don’t fill their ATMs.

Enviva’s Plan of Reorganization (the “Plan”) was confirmed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, with overwhelming support from the Company's key stakeholders and business partners. As a result of this, the Company’s liquidity and financial profile is very strong and the Company has no near-term debt maturities. The secured funding also fully finances completion of the Company’s 11 th production plant, under construction in Epes, Alabama, which is anticipated to produce its first pellets in May 2025. Once fully ramped, the Company expects the new plant to produce ~1 million metric tons of wood pellets per year, providing a significant opportunity to sell into new and existing markets.
